Finding the right therapist can be a daunting task – it can be hard to find someone you’re comfortable working with and who you trust to help you to grow.
I’m a clinical and health psychologist with over 20 years’ experience working with teenagers, adults, couples and families. My practice emphasizes compassionate, empirically-supported treatments which are effective with a wide range of concerns, including: ADHD, depression, anxiety, emotional reactivity and problems finding a satisfying interpersonal relationship. I also have experience helping people to adjust to major life changes like the onset of a serious illness, transition to college, parenthood, divorce or stepfamily life.
I think you’ll find my style to be warm, connected, encouraging, practical and clear. I’ll do my best to respect your values and interact with humor and humility. I’ll encourage you to be an increasingly active participant in your treatment over time, as we strive to find a balance between understanding why you feel and behave the way you do and what you can do to increase your effectiveness and reduce suffering. I have a long-standing personal meditation and yoga practice and specific training in helping clients to integrate mindfulness into their daily lives.
Prior to moving to private practice, I directed mental health programs for adolescents and adults at Children’s National Medical Center and SUNY Downstate Medical Center. I have also provided training and consultation to practicing clinicians in the US and abroad.
Please feel free to contact me for more information about my practice.
